I know many young people may be questioning what this election means for their futures, wondering if the outcome changes their ability to live openly, to live authentically, to live fully. In moments like these, I want every LGBTQ+ young person—and every person who cares about them—to know one thing: The Trevor Project is here for you, no matter the outcome of any election.

As the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people, our mission remains clear: to end suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people. We will continue to ensure that every LGBTQ+ young person has access to safe, affirming spaces, especially during challenging times.

I want to say with all my heart: Your life matters, and you were born to live it. Trevor will always be here to support you, to listen, and to offer you the care you deserve.

Our commitment to LGBTQ+ youth has always been about people, not politics. That will never change. We’ll continue to work with leaders from all political backgrounds who share our mission of ending LGBTQ+ youth suicide, and I am heartened that our work consistently receives strong bipartisan support. We believe that creating safe, affirming environments for LGBTQ+ young people is above politics—it’s about ensuring every young person feels valued, respected, and seen.

Our work together is more important than ever. Thank you for being here with us and with LGBTQ+ young people across the country at this moment. We are united in our mission, and with your support, we’ll keep moving forward, creating a future where every young person can live authentically.

In unity and support,

Jaymes Black

Their passion and excitement helped us see Trevor through fresh eyes and see new possibilities in our work.  Trevor Interns Gciniwe and Trey shared their experiences working with us this summer: “Interning at the Trevor Project has been an absolute highlight of my summer. The members of the Content team have been incredibly welcoming and supportive. Initially, I didn't fully comprehend the extent of The Trevor Project's…

Written by: Tommy Marzella, Katherine Ross, Ph.D., and Diane Hsieh, Ph.D. For over a decade, The Trevor Project has operated TrevorSpace, an affirming, online community for LGBTQ+ young people between the ages of 13-24. TrevorSpace is designed for young people to start or enter conversations around their identity and interests, including topics like mental health, gender identity, sexual orientation, coming out, as well as entertainment, games, debate, and more. With fewer than 40% of LGBTQ young people finding…
